Visit by HRD Corp Chief Executive to FMM – Strengthening Collaboration for Industrial Talent Development

FMM was honoured to welcome YBrs Dr Syed Alwi Bin Mohamed Sultan, Chief Executive of HRD Corp, together with senior officials from HRD Corp, on November 24, 2025 at Wisma FMM.
The delegation was received by FMM President, YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Soh Thian Lai, joined by FMM Deputy President Mr Jacob Lee, FMM Vice Presidents – YBhg Dato’ Nathan K Suppiah, YBhg Datuk Noraini Binti Soltan, Ms Michelle Hah, YBhg Dato’ Gan Tack Kong and YBhg Dato’ Andrew Goh, as well as FMM Branch Chairmen and Council Members.
During the engagement, Dr Syed Alwi shared HRD Corp’s key focus areas for 2026 guided by the Government’s mandate to achieve 35% skilled workers, including strengthened focus on aligning with national priorities and emerging sectors, SME capability-building by increasing their levy utilisation and enhanced focus on certification programmes by increasing the training places for certification courses as well as increasing certification courses registered on the supply side. He also conveyed HRD Corp’s commitment to deepening collaboration with FMM, particularly in programmes that uplift SME competencies and expand access to quality skills development.
FMM in turn presented several proposals for HRD Corp’s consideration to support national workforce and industry transformation, including:
