Survey of the Proposed Amendments to the Environmental Quality Act 1974

Dear FMM Members,

This is to inform that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) through the Department of Environment (DOE) is currently undertaking the amendments to the Environmental Quality Act 1974 to strengthen the role and function of this Act through an integrated pollution prevention, law enforcement and environmental control activities to ensure that the environmental pollution issues could be addressed holistically and effectively. The amendments would be substantive and focuses on emerging issues in environmental governance. In this regard, the DOE is conducting a survey to obtain views and input from stakeholders and the public on the proposed amendments. The survey commences on May 7, 2025 until May 30, 2025.
