Courtesy Call by H.E Bulat Sugurbayev, The Ambassador of Khazakhstan To Malaysia on FMM

FMM President Mr Jacob Lee Chor Kok, together with FMM President Emeritus, Tan Sri Dato' (Dr) Soh Thian Lai,  FMM Deputy President Dato’ Andrew Goh Boon Kim and FMM CEO, Datuk Dr Yeoh Oon Tean received a courtesy visit from His Excellency Bulat Sugurbayev, Ambassador of Embassy of Kazakhstan on April 15, 2026.

The discussion centred on the proposed establishment of a Malaysian Trade Hub in Khorgos, leveraging its strategic position as a key gateway along major trade corridors. Both parties also explored opportunities to strengthen linkages in the agriculture sector, including facilitating market access and collaboration in agri-based industries. In addition, the meeting discussed the planning of a trade mission to Kazakhstan, including a visit to Khorgos, as well as future initiatives to enhance business engagement, promote bilateral trade, and foster closer economic cooperation.
