Updates on Safeguard Investigation on Imports of Hot Rolled Flat Steel by Egypt

Reference is made to FMM Circular RC/8/2025 dated May 6, 2025 on the safeguard investigation by Egypt on imports of hot rolled flat steel originating from Malaysia.

On February16, 2026, the Government of Egypt announced updates on the safeguard investigation on imports of hot-rolled flat steel products including the decision to impose safeguard measures. The products under investigation are classified under the Egyptian customs tariff schedule within the following Harmonised System (HS) codes: 7208.10, 7208.25, 7208.26, 7208.27,7208.36, 7208.37, 7208.38, 7208.39, 7208.40, 7208.51, 7208.52, 7208.53, 7208.54,7208.90, 7211.14, 7211.19, 7225.30, 7225.40, 7226.91, and 7226.99.

The investigation involves the following measures:

In this regard, interested parties are advised to request consultations with the Investigating Authority (IA) by February 25, 2026. All consultation requests must be submitted in writing, both in hard copy and in electronic format, and must include the contact details and be addressed to:
