Updates on the Final Determination of Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) Review into Certain Steel Products by United Kingdom

Reference is made to the tariff rate quota (TRQ) review on certain steelproducts under the United Kingdom (UK)’s safeguard measure initiated by the UK Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) on January 14, 2026.

On March 31,2026, the UK TRA concluded its review and published the final determination for the TRQ review on safeguard measures on certain steel products: 

     i.       TQ0077 – Categories 4 (metallic coated sheet) and 7(alloy and non-alloy quarto plates); and

    ii.       TQ0078 – Category 12A (alloy merchant bars and light sections).

For TQ0077, the UK TRA has decided that the current safeguard measures and TRQs will remain in place for both categories 4 and 7, as removing the safeguard would likely result in a significant increase in lower-priced imports, thereby causing serious injury to the UK domestic producers.

As for TQ0078, UK TRA has decided to remove the TRQ measure for category 12Aclassified under the HS Codes as follows: 

• 7228 3041 00
• 7228 3020 00
• 7228 6020 00
