MNSC, FMM and ICC Academy Strengthen Industry Collaboration Through Seminar on Trade Risk and Supply Chain Resilience

The Malaysian National Shippers' Council (MNSC), in collaboration with the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) and the ICC Academy, successfully organised the MNSC-FMM-ICC Academy Seminar on "Safeguarding Your Business in an Uncertain World: Trade Risk, Supply Chain Resilience and Financial Protection in a Geopolitically Volatile Environment" on July 28, 2026 at the M World Hotel, Petaling Jaya.

The seminar brought together manufacturers, exporters, importers, logistics providers, supply chain professionals and industry stakeholders to examine the challenges arising from today's evolving geopolitical landscape and to explore practical strategies for strengthening business resilience through effective trade risk management, supply chain resilience and financial protection.

The programme commenced with welcome remarks by Mr. Mark Wing Kong, Secretary-General of the Malaysian National Shippers' Council, followed by remarks from Ms. Christine Lim, Global Head of the ICC Academy.

The technical programme featured a series of presentations by distinguished industry experts. Dato' Nachiappan Suppiah, Vice Chairman of the FMM Logistics Committee, shared insights on the impact of geopolitical developments on international trade, logistics and payment systems, drawing on findings from the recent FMM industry surveys. Mr. Jayesh Avlani, ICC Academy Accredited Trainer, conducted three sessions covering international trade documentation and ICC rules, Letters of Credit and trade finance instruments, as well as supply chain resilience, diversification and contingency planning. The seminar concluded with a presentation by Mr. Wong Deyao, Head of Marine Underwriting, Tokio Marine Insurans (Malaysia) Berhad, who discussed the role of insurance and risk management in safeguarding businesses against geopolitical uncertainties.

A key highlight of the event was the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Exchange Ceremony between the Malaysian National Shippers' Council (MNSC) and the ICC Academy. The MoU establishes a strategic collaboration to promote capacity building and professional development in international trade, logistics, supply chain management and trade finance. It also provides a framework for both organisations to jointly undertake seminars, training programmes and knowledge-sharing initiatives aimed at enhancing the knowledge, capabilities and competitiveness of Malaysia's shipping and logistics community in an increasingly complex global trading environment.

The seminar reflects the shared commitment of MNSC, FMM and the ICC Academy to equip Malaysian businesses with practical knowledge, internationally recognised best practices and the necessary competencies to navigate the evolving global trading environment with greater confidence and resilience.
